Oh When the Saints are Faithful

Oh When the Saints are Faithful

Faithful.  A faithful Saints fan.  For those that have wondered who the Whistle Man is, the ultra Saints Fan that wears a giant black and gold whistle on his head, his real name is Leroy Mitchell.  He prefers the nickname of Whistle Monsta or for those non Who Dats -- Whistle Monster. Many refer to him as the whistle dude or whistle man since they aren't sure what to call him.  The Whistle Monsta sits in the plaza section of the Louisiana Superdome in section 111 -- the visitor's sideline.  Leroy is no Johnny come lately. He has been the Whistle Monster since the early 90s.  He was born the same year the New Orleans Saints first played football.

faith·ful

ADJECTIVE (an adjective is a describing word, the main syntactic role of which is to qualify a noun or noun phrase, giving more information about the object signified)

loyal, constant, and steadfast:

synonyms: loyal · constant · true · devoted · true-blue · unswerving

Something great happens whent he saints of God are faithful, loyal, constant and true.

Paul writes of this kind of faithfulness.

Paul wrote 2 Timothy from a dark and damp Roman prison cell, just before his death in AD 67 -
By the time Paul wrote his second letter to Timothy, the young pastor had been ministering to the church at Ephesus for four years, and it had been almost that long since he had received his first letter from Paul. Timothy had been a faithful servant to Paul since he had left home with the apostle more than a decade earlier.

2 Timothy 2:1-13
You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 5 An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 6 It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. 7 Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

8 Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, 9 for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! 10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; 12 if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.

God is the greates example of faithfulness.  It is an adjecitve that qualfies him.

This is a virtual quote from Romans 3:3–4, “What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Let God be true though everyone were a liar.” The point is that God saves those who believe because belief glorifies his trustworthiness and God cannot deny that he is trustworthy. He cannot deny himself. He saves those whose faith magnify his name. For he cannot deny the infinite value of his name.

1.  Faithful to God
“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14-16

Revelation 2:10 (Be faithful until death and I will give you the crown of life)

It’s why God can’t stand divorce because it’s unfaithfulness to the vow we made. And Christ is the groom and we are the bride and we are committed to Him. The vow that we made stands. We are to hold fast to our confession. He knows our weaknesses. He knows it’s hard. Faithful to God.

We are to turn away from our emotion and to the faithfulness of Christ.
We have made a vow we will keep the vow. We will finish to the end.

2.  Faithful to Gathering
"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV

All the more. Let’s gather more. There are things that you have that I need. There are things that I have that you need. There is an encouragement that happens when we gather together in one accord. There is a power that happens when we gather together. Don’t make excuses. Don’t do other things. The most important thing is gathering.

3.  Faithful to Growing

“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. Luke 16:10

You don’t have to be Great, You Just Have to be Faithful. Faithful in growing with the little and God promises to make you ruler over much.

Oh when the saints are faithful what great things can happen.
